Wine route through Pla de Bages

El Molí (Man­resa)

After four gen­er­a­tions ded­i­cated to wine­mak­ing, El Molí con­tin­ues to work with new va­ri­eties and sys­tems adapted to the viti­cul­ture of today. The win­ery is now mov­ing into or­ganic pro­duc­tion, pro­vid­ing an ex­cel­lent grape and pro­duc­ing the COLL­BAIX line of wines.

On the two prop­er­ties at Pla de Bages, “El Molí” and “Plans de la Casa Nova” there are or­gan­i­cally cul­ti­vated vines and olive trees pro­duc­ing pre­mium wine and olive oils. El Moli main­tains a bal­ance be­tween tra­di­tion and moder­nity and has sought to be part of the en­vi­ron­ment, in­tend­ing to stay true to its com­mit­ment to qual­ity and eco­log­i­cal pro­duc­tion. The ob­jec­tive then is to make today's tech­no­log­i­cal and en­vi­ron­men­tal in­no­va­tion a tra­di­tion. There are 30,000 plants of Tem­pranillo, Mer­lot, Caber­net Sauvi­gnon, Caber­net Franc, Macabeo and the local va­ri­ety,Pi­capoll, and there are 8,000 Ar­be­quina olive trees, all spread over 18 hectares. Tours will take vis­i­tors to see the vine­yards and the cel­lar, and enjoy a tast­ing (white, rosé and red wines) and if they wish, they have the op­por­tu­nity to take some of those home with them.

Canonge Restau­rant (Man­resa)

The Canonge restau­rant is lo­cated in the cen­ter of Man­resa, near the com­mer­cial shop­ping area. Their Mediter­ranean cui­sine uses local fresh prod­ucts and the de­li­cious desserts are made on the premises and, along with other local pro­duce, can be bought at the shop. There are daily, week­end and à la carte menus.

The restau­rant started as a Fun­dació Am­pans pro­ject to cre­ate em­ploy­ment for peo­ple with in­tel­lec­tual dis­abil­i­ties and the staff has been trained in cater­ing ser­vices and cook­ing, work­ing with pro­fes­sion­al­ism and en­thu­si­asm.

Many dishes on the menu are spon­sored by lead­ing fig­ures in Cata­lan cui­sine, in­clud­ing Nandu Jubany, Do­lores Gomez and the Fun­dació Alícia. There are spe­cial areas for groups or for events and it is also ideal for meet­ings and pri­vate get-to­geth­ers. Wines are from the Urpina vine­yard where there is a home for peo­ple with in­tel­lec­tual dis­abil­i­ties.
