Rod, the first star to shine

Calella de Palafrugell will be filled with stars as the sea­side town again hosts the Cap Roig Fes­ti­val, with the first to shine being vet­eran British singer-song­writer, Rod Stew­art The 78-year-old rocker will show that he has not lost an iota of charisma when he opens the 23rd edi­tion of the music fes­ti­val with the in­au­gural con­cert on July 14.

Be­tween his per­for­mance and that of David Bis­bal, who will close the event on Au­gust 19, there will be a host of top artists and groups on the line-up, in­clud­ing Norah Jones, Sim­ply Red, Luz Casal, Se­bastián Yatra, Vanesa Martín, Juan Diego Flórez , Manuel Car­rasco, Pablo López, Lola Índigo, Damien Rice, Mika, Pablo Alborán, Ara Ma­likian, Els Amics de les Arts, Stay Homas, Tabu­rete, Joan Dausà, Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Els Catar­res.

Cap Roig will also have fam­ily-ori­ented shows, such as a per­for­mance by Dàmaris Gelabert (Aug 11) cel­e­brat­ing his 25-year ca­reer along­side the Grow Up Singing Band. Mean­while, the De Simba a Kiara mu­si­cal will pay trib­ute to the Lion King, both part of the Cap Roig Mini sec­tion. As for the char­ity con­cert, it will be held on Au­gust 17 with Vanesa Martín, and with all the pro­ceeds going to equip the sen­sory stim­u­la­tion room of the POTS as­so­ci­a­tion, which helps peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties.

The food will be pro­vided by Cal Blay Food Lovers, and twin chefs Ser­gio and Javier Tor­res of Barcelona’s Cocina Her­manos Tor­res restau­rant.
