SOME SUGGESTIONS:

The Dallas Museum of Art, downtown in general, most particularly the old town, and the district Deep Ellum. Right next to Dallas there’s almost like a twin city called Fort Worth (our airport is called Dallas Fort Worth), I would recommend going to Cowtown to see the deep cowboy culture of Texas, see a rodeo, and the Kimbell Art Museum.

In terms of the state of Texas, Hill Country, the area between Austin, the state capital, and San Antonio, an old city that has what’s called missions, 18th century buildings with a lot of history, the Nasa Space Centre in Houston, and for those interested in the countryside I would recommend the Big Bend National Park. Texas is a very interesting state which has been independent, and has lived under six different flags — the flags of Spain, France, Mexico, Texas, the Southern States and the flag of the United States.

There’s a big foodie culture here in Dallas, and you have a mixture of very fancy restaurants, Texan restaurants and Mexican ones. The Mexican and Tex-Mex tradition is extremely important, so you can find many places serving excellent tacos, burritos, and all sorts of Mexican food, which are part of the local culture. Hispanic heritage is extremely important here.

Monarch, a fine restaurant in downtown Dallas, on the 49th floor of The National building. You can get fantastic food and the best views of the city’s skyline.

I would say October, sort of end of summer, beginning of autumn, because during the summer it’s extremely hot – dry heat, but still hot. However, in autumn you have beautiful days, 25-27 degrees, always sunshine and in the evening it gets cooler. Dallas has blue skies every day!

I would say, the Kimbell Art Museum, in Fort Worth, it has an impressive art collection of western art that is not very well known, but it is much better than anything we have in Barcelona. It’s really amazing, going from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. There is another museum which is a bit of a rare gem here in Dallas, the 6th Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, which is where Kennedy was killed – the apartment from the window where he was killed has become a museum which you can visit and try to understand that terrible moment in American history. Dallas is also an important business centre, but there is a huge amount of art, the opera, the Dallas symphony orchestra, and there’s a very lively art scene. Lately there are lots of families from the east and west coasts relocating here, as it’s not as expensive as New York or Los Angeles and it is a wonderful place to raise a family. Dallas also has one of the most important airports in North America, so we have direct flights to everywhere, which makes it a very international city.
