Després de dirigir Memento, Insomnio i Batman begins, i abans de fer dos nous Batman, Origen, Interstellar i Dunquerque, Christopher Nolan va enfrontar dos mags de finals del segle XIX (Hugh Jackman i Christian Bale) en un film ple de girs que reuneix totes les constants del seu cine. Nolan no decep mai.
