POINT MADE

Banning Spring

All these pedantic defenders of legality don’t know what to get het up about anymore, after Quim Torra (and many ajuntaments who were also required to do so) did what the Electoral Commission required of them, literally: removed estelades and yellow ribbons from public buildings. But was it effective? If a resolution bans hanging things from facades, they’ll put them on balconies or stick them to windows. And if the Electoral Commission bans yellow from facades entirely they’ll have to take the Spanish flag down too. Unionism has the power to cut all the flowers, but they can’t ban spring. The right to protest against political repression is impossible to silence, and even less so in election times.
