Too many degrees at universities, study warns
A study analysing the university system in Spain has revealed that the number of university degrees on offer in Catalonia has grown by 30%, in both public and private universities, since the Bologna plan was implemented. The current number of degree courses on offer is 530 - compared to 2,854 for Spain as a whole. The study warns that although courses are heterogeneous, they are often too specialised, leaving students, families and companies unsure of what different degrees entail.
