Kurdish prisoner dies while on hunger strike
The Kurdish prisoner Zülküf Gezen, who was serving a life sentence in Turkey, died on Sunday night while on hunger strike. Many Kurdish prisoners are on hunger strike to demand an end to the isolation of the leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Abdullah Ocalan. Ocalan has been in prison on the island of Imrali, near Istanbul, since 1999, where he is the only prisoner.
