Sánchez: “Catalonia will not be free, under me”

The first pro-indy demonstration in Madrid, hit at the heart of the Spanish parties, and left a large echo in the capital. Pedro Sánchez asserted that Catalonia would never reach independence with him as Spanish leader. Pablo Casado of the PP went further and said that under his hypothetical rule, demonstrations like Saturday’s would be banned (regardless of what Article 21 of the Constitution says). Striking a balance, Miguel Iceta of the PSC said he feared under a rule by the right wing, only those who thought like them would be allowed to demonstrate.
