Growth in volume of recycled glass bottles
The number of recycled glass bottles is on the increase in Catalonia. Last year, the number rose by 7.5% compared to data for 2017, the biggest year-on-year rise in the last decade. Some 162,295 tonnes of glass were collected in green containers, representing an average of 21.4 kilos per inhabitant, or around 81 items. José Manuel Núñez, CEO of Ecovidrio, a company responsible for recycling, said it is the result of “the administrations’ long-term commitment to waste management.”
