Second Trump-Kim summit fails

The second summit between Donald Trump, and Kim Jong-Un came to an unexpected end yesterday, without a signed agreement, or even the final meal being eaten, as leaders decided their differences were insuperable in the time available. The presumed resulting reduction of tensions between North Korea, South Korea and the United States have now been put at risk, and diplomats have confessed to having been left in the dark as to the exact reasons for the summit failure. In a statement to the press assembled, Trump stated that a deal could not be reached as Kim’s demands for the lifting of all sanctions in exchange for only part denuclearisation, were unacceptable to the United States, who demanded full denuclearisation. Kim reportedly offered to decommission the Yongbyon nuclear site, but the Trump administration said this fell short of the American government’s requirements.
