Referendum trial live
El Punt Avui TV will broadcast the trial in full, viewers will also be able to follow the trial on the newspaper’s website
We don’t want our readers and viewers to miss a thing from the referendum trial, starting next Tuesday, so we’re making a range channels for delivering news available. El Punt Avui and El Punt Avui TV will be taking on this challenge from 12 February and right through the trial, with new sections, the return of the programme “L’Illa de Robinson” (Robinson’s island), journalists for every point of interest and a daily analysis released on paper, on the web and on TV, our viewers and spectators will be able to pick and choose at their convenience.
This array of options is about ensuring access to what is probably the most transcendental political trial since the restoration of democracy in Spain. The twelve defendants (the ex-president of the Generalitat, Oriol Junqueras, and ex-ministers Raul Romeva, Jordi Turull, Josep Rull, Joaquim Forn, Dolors Bassa, Meritxell Borràs, Carles Mundó and Santi Vila, the former Speaker of Catalan Parliament, Carme Forcadell, the former president of the ANC, Jordi Sànchez, now a member of the JXC pro-independence platform, and the president of Omnium, Jordi Cuixart) will be on trial at the Supreme Court from next Tuesday onwards. The sentences called for range from a 25- year prison sentence for Oriol Junqueras to 7 years for ex-ministers Santi Vila, Meritxell Borràs, and Carles Mundó.
El Punt Avui TV will be bringing back “L’Illa de Robinson”. It’ll be on every day of the trial from 7.30 to 9pm and again from 9.30 to 11pm, and there is to be a slot for discussion and analysis where experts will explain and offer opinions on the key points of the events taking place.
