POINT MADE
Brexit takes everyone down
Just as it seems May has managed to avoid a split between those favouring a hard and a soft Brexit in her own Conservative party, the threat of an existential fissure in the Labour party is emerging. A group of Labour MPs opposed to Brexit are considering abandoning the party to create another, new, centrist party, open to conservatives and liberal democrats. Regardless of whether they make the jump, the internal crisis can no longer be ignored. The party is divided between a pro-European majority calling for another referendum, and a euro-sceptic group, led by leader Jeremy Corbyn, who navigates with ambiguity, at best. Brexit is crossing party lines, and it is threatening to bring everyone down.
