Ombudsman calls for protocol to protect babies

The Ombudsman yesterday called for a specific protocol to protect newborn babies from possible mistreatment, after the case of a two-month old child allegedly mistreated by its father, which is currently in the Vall d’Hebron hospital. The Ombudsman believes there was a lack of coordination and communication between the services that should have detected the mistreatment of the baby. The Ombudsman suggested that “the suspicions” of the health service did not reach social services with “sufficient efficiency.”
