Public prosecutor dismisses nose blowing case

The Madrid of­fice of the pub­lic pros­e­cu­tor has re­quested that the ac­cu­sa­tions against the co­me­dian Dani Mateo be dis­missed. He was ac­cused of flag des­e­cra­tion and hate crimes after a Span­ish po­lice union made a com­plaint about Mateo blow­ing his nose on the Span­ish flag on El In­ter­me­di­ario, a satir­i­cal TV show cov­er­ing news sto­ries. The pub­lic pros­e­cu­tor says it was to some ex­tent provoca­tive as a satir­i­cal sketch, but is nev­er­the­less pro­tected by the right to free­dom of speech.
