Children with more muscle develop more lung function

Children with more muscle develop better pulmonary function. So says a study from the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, which monitored almost 7,000 children from birth in the UK. The findings were published yesterday in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. The study found that both boys and girls with more muscle mass develop greater rates of forced vital capacity (FVC), the amount of air a person can exhale after breathing in as deeply as possible.
