King attempts to portray Spanish flag as “uniting”
On his fifth occasion leading the annual Pascua Militar celebrations, which sums up the year’s military events, and prepare troops for the year ahead, King Felipe launched into a dramatic soliloquy to the rojigualda, the Spanish flag, as the “flag of everyone”, and a symbol of “sovereignty, unity and integrity”. He praised its 175 years, leaving out its 40 years as a flag of dictatorship.
