CUP party opts not to stand in European election

The left-wing, pro-independence party, CUP, has decided not to put any candidates forward for the European elections next May. The party, which held its national council yesterday in Artés, justified the decision in a statement that, while recognising the “exceptional” political situation, said its political project “does not fit” the European institutions.
