Wine route through D. O. Conca de Barberà

The municipality of Barberà de la Conca is located 7 km from Montblanc and 19 km from Valls. With no significant elevations, only small hillsides, among which the Tossal Gros stands out, Barberà de la Conca offers visitors the charm of a small village that occupies the southern slope of a hill dominated by Barberà castle, an essential visit, where the steep narrow streets transfer us to another time. Its magnificent panoramic views of the region invite us to enjoy a moment’s rest, as well as reminding us of its strategic importance during medieval times. The passage of the Anguera river provides the water that flows from many springs and wells.
In 2011, Albert Canela and Mariona Vendrell took the opportunity to create the Succés Vinícola project, thanks to an initiative by the Viver de Celleristes, located in Barberà de la Conca. The initiative offered entrepreneurs the chance to undertake a new project for a maximum period of 10 years, in a unique way and minimising economic risks, by providing them with wine-making facilities on their property.
Each of the two wines that Albert and Mariona have on the market reflects an experienced event:
- La Cuca de Llum, a red wine of the native Trepat variety
- El Mentider, a red wine also made with Trepat, from vines which are between 80 and 100 years old, and aged for nine months in oak barrels.

Chef Daniel Eek is the owner and chef at Portal Dinou restaurant. After many years of training in the Vía Venetto and Vivanda restaurants in Barcelona, Gerdera in Terrassa, the Hesperia Sarrià hotel, the restaurant El Mirador de Sant Just Desvern, and the Hotel NH Rallye-NH Pòdium in Barcelona, he decided to launch his own project.
At Portal Dinou, tradition and modernity coexist alongside one another in the same dish, revealing the aromas and flavours of quality products.
Situated in a beautiful setting, it is a restaurant that pampers its customers. Very good value for money, it is haute cuisine at affordable prices, and with great care taken over all details. Exquisite service in a very relaxed atmosphere. The croquettes, tuna tataki and black noodles with cuttlefish are all highly recommended.
