September 8-10. Alella grape harvest
Cuina magazineThe 43rd Alella Harvest Festival is packed with more than 30 activities related to the region’s wine, just as the local grape harvest gets underway. The celebration on the second weekend of September harks back to the days when the grapes were still pressed under foot. The fair is a showcase for learning about the DO Alella wines and champagne.

September 10. No 'truffling' matter!
Cuina magazineAround the Camprodon valley the local truffles are very highly prized and are the stars of their own fair each September, in Mollo, in northern Ripollès. Visitors to the fair will also have the chance to get their hands on the renowned local potatoes, as well as meats and cheeses. Weather permitting, it is also the start of the wild mushroom hunting season.

September 17. Rice Harvest Festival
Cuina magazineThe cultivation of rice is one of the mainstays of the popular wetland area of the Ebre Delta in southern Catalonia. That is why in September various activities are held in many of the towns and villages in the area related to this much prized Catalan staple. The festival is also a great opportunity for visitors to discover the area’s many natural attractions.

September 17. All about Almonds
Cuina magazineAlmond trees abound in the fields of Urgell in the province of Lleida, and throughout the month of September, in Vilagrassa, you can find out all about the local nuts, try the different varieties and the many products that are made with them. The traditional almond fair takes place in the town itself, but also in neighbouring municipalities.

September 16-17. The Alguaire Fig Fair
Cuina magazineThe Alguaire festival celebrates the locally grown coll de dama fig with a biannual fair boasting cooking classes, crafts, workshops, tastings and tours to learn all about the activities generated around this popular late-summer fruit. There is, of course, a market where visitors can buy directly from fig producers and enjoy their gastronomic delights.

September 24 & 25. The Vinyala snail
Cuina magazineIt would seem that nothing happens at a snail’s pace in Òdena once the season gets underway and it is time for, this year, the 6th edition of the fair dedicated to the local Vinyala snail. Just about the whole town gets involved in welcoming visitors from all over and introducing them to the snail that the locals argue is like no other.
