High participation in referendum on new constitution

On Sunday Cubans voted in a referendum on the island’s new constitution, which introduces some changes, including the recognition of private property but not the right to same-sex marriage. Of the more than 8 million voters, more than 7.5 million had already voted an hour before the polling stations closed. The result is not yet known, but the yes vote is expected to win.
