Students compete to promote inclusion

Over 13,000 students and 250 teachers from 193 different educational centers throughout Catalonia participated in the 35th competition for schools organized by the ONCE Social Group, entitled “Per mi i per tots els meus companys’”(for me and all my classmates). Students from a range of different schools participated in the program, which aims to raise awareness across educational communities and work towards changing attitudes to ensure students interact with each other respectfully, without excluding people on the grounds of their differences or disabilities with, an emphasis on break time.

Primary school students and students with special educational needs had to make a poster reflecting their guidelines for encouraging inclusion in the playground, along with a description of themselves, while secondary, sixth form and college students had to record a one minute music video accompanied by a short screenplay.

The competition began in October and the selection of the favourites is just around the corner: in March the best entries will be selected from each province, in April favourites will be selected from each autonomous community, and finally, in the following months, the state-wide winners will be selected.
