080 Fashion Week comes to a close

“The feeling getting to the end of this 080 is one of satisfaction for having achieved the goals we set.” Thus, yesterday the head of Catalonia’s retail and fashion consortium, Muntsa Vilalta, expressed her contentment as the 080 Fashion Week, held this week in Barcelona’s Recinte de Sant Pau, closed its doors.

Pointing to this year’s slogan of Undress your mind, Vilalta said this year the public “let itself be seduced by the creativity, colour and multiculturality” that the show represented. According to Vilalta, the 23rd 080 Fashion Week included “high level proposals” while showing the potential of Catalan fashion.

Yet, one of the highlights of this year’s event was its international element, with the inclusion of South Africa’s Chulaap or the Turkish designer Umit Benan. The show also featured both emerging and established domestic designers and firms, with some 40 brands taking part.
