Supreme Court sets date for independence trial

Spain’s Supreme Court finally announced that the date for the start of the trial against 12 independence leaders will be February 12. The court also approved over 500 witnesses called by the prosecution and the defence. Among them is former Spanish government members from the PP party, including former prime minister Mariano Rajoy, his deputy Soraya Sáenz de Santamaria, and his finance minister Cristóbal Montoro. Also called to testify are former president Artur Mas and Barcelona mayor Ada Colau.
