Oui theatre festival welcomes film

In this its third year, Oui, a French theatre festival in Barcelona, is incorporating cinema into its programme. The idea is to attract cinema audiences to the world of theatre. And this is only the beginning of a project that seeks to expand French talent in Barcelona beyond the realms of textual theatre.

The festival is scheduled to run from February 5 to February 17, and is to involve showings in various spaces, including the Theatre Institute and the Dau al Sec. Dau al Sec is a new arena for stage research run by Mercè Managuerra: behind the scenes at this new venue, and the Oui festival, lies an interest in disturbing theatrical forms.

All plays are surtitled and all films are subtitled. Before this year the plays performed at the French Institute had been left untranslated. However this year it is anticipated that people who do not know French will be interested in going.
