Israel bombs Iranian targets in Syria

The Israeli army confirmed yesterday that they were behind the bombing of a series of Iranian targets in Syria on Sunday night, in an unusual move for Israeli Defence Forces who are usually tight-lipped regarding their operations in Syria. Israeli military leaders explained that targets included munition storage sites, an Iranian intelligence site and an Iranian military training camp.

The bombings were carried out in response to a surface-to-surface rocket launched from Syrian territory towards a ski resort at the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on Sunday, which was intercepted by the Israeli Iron Dome air defence system. Earlier that day the Israeli army had carried out air raids at Damascus International Airport. The Israeli bombings on Iranian targets in Syria resulted in the deaths of eleven people according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
