Fura opens learning lab in Badalona
Art and science aren’t supposed to mesh well. But they have been fundamental to the work of the Fura dels Baus theatre company for four decades. Fura has just inaugurated Fundació Épica, a project (based at the old Muebles Rojas factories in Badalona) promoting multi-disciplinary learning. The Fundació is to be a lab for learning and dissemination. Fura’s particular understanding of how knowledge gets transmitted comes in to play: artistically (because they teach this international theatre company’s methodology) and scientifically (because the groups they are to host will test basic technology to find specific applications for it). One of Fura dels Baus’ directors, Pep Gatell, presides over the project, and the chef Andoni Luis Aduriz is in the committee overseeing. Aduriz worked with Gatell on Degustació de Titus Andrónicus (the tasting of Titus Andronicus) a play caught between the audiovisual, physical theater and gastronomy.
