Macron’s government hit by another scandal

The be­lea­guered French pres­i­dent, Em­manuel Macron will have been dis­app­pointed to see his ex-aide’s name in the head­lines again. Alexan­dre Be­nalla, fired for beat­ing anti-gov­ern­ment pro­test­ers last sum­mer, has vis­ited Chad, only weeks be­fore Macron is to do so, mak­ing mys­te­ri­ous use of two diplo­matic pass­ports, to meet mil­i­tary pro­cure­ment of­fi­cials, whilst sup­pos­edly on “pri­vate” busi­ness.
