Ombudsman makes air pollution recommendations

The Om­buds­man has re­leased a se­ries of rec­om­men­da­tions for re­duc­ing air pol­lu­tion in Barcelona and the sur­round­ing area. Rafael Ribó ar­gues for such mea­sures as im­prov­ing pub­lic trans­port con­nec­tions be­tween pe­riph­eral mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties and the cap­i­tal, as well as uni­fy­ing the cri­te­ria for dis­counts. Ribó claimed such mea­sures will en­cour­age the use of pub­lic trans­port. Yet, the om­buds­man also ad­mit­ted his de­part­ment has re­ceived nu­mer­ous com­plaints about the low-emis­sion areas adopted by the au­thor­i­ties.
